Recent Adrian College Football Highlights
Adrian College received a "helmet sticker" on ESPN's College Game Day Final on September 9, 2006 for playing its first football game on campus in 45 years.
The 2006 football season saw the dedication of the $6.5 million Adrian College Performance Stadium. The stadium features a ProGrass playing surface, 1750 chairback seats for Bulldog fans, the Thomas Alumni Pavilion with fireplace and picnic seating, and new locker and athletic training facilities. AC went 4-1 in the stadium in 2006.
On November 5, 2006, the Bulldogs defeated rival Albion College for the fifth-consecutive season, downing the Britons 31-26 at the Performance Stadium.
2006 senior linebacker Tavarski 'Taz' Wallace ended his Adrian College career as the most prolific tackler in NCAA Division III history, averaging 13.41 tackles-per-game. Following the 2006 season, Wallace competed in the East Coast Bowl and Magnolia Bowl, both all-star showcases for potential NFL talent.
Senior place kicker James Spencer, with this 38-yard field goal, became the all-time leading scorer for Adrian College Football. Spencer ended his career with seven school records.
Adrian College defensive coordinator Aaron Klotz was named to the national "Hot Coaches" list. Compiled by American Football Monthly, the honorees also included Cincinnati Bengals head coach Marvin Lewis, now Atlanta Falcons head coach Bobby Petrino, and Colorado head coach Dan Hawkins.
The Bulldogs are named to Street & Smith's College Football Annual preseason Top-25 and two Adrian College student-athletes, Taz Wallace and DJ Howard are named to their preseason All-American team.
The Bulldog weight room was completely refurbished over the Summer of 2006. New Hammer Strength equipment, a new line of cardio equipment and rubber flooring, were just a few of the upgrades made to the facility.
