Anathan
Gibson is in his first year as the running backs
coach at Adrian College.
Gibson
most recently served as an assistant coach at
Newberry College, South Carolina, where he was
a defensive backs, special teams, and strength
and conditioning coach.
During
his one season as a coach with the Indians, the
defense was ranked 36th nationally in total defense
in NCAA Division II play. He guided a defensive
backs unit that held opponents to under 150 passing
yards per game and grabbed 13 interceptions on
the season.
A
versitile player, Gibson played five different
positions on the gridiron at Newberry from 2004
to 2006 after playing for two seasons at Dodge
City Community College in Kansas.
Originally
from Seneca, S.C., Gibson was the 39th ranked
prep player coming out of South Carolina in 1997
and was rated a blue chipper in the ACC region
after rushing for 1,657 yards and 15 touchdowns
as a senior. He was also a captain and team MVP
at Seneca High School.
