AC Football falls in 2 OT at Westminster
NEW
WILMINGTON, Pa.—The
Adrian College Bulldogs suffered their second
defeat of the season on Saturday at Westminster
College, 24-27, in double overtime.
After
falling behind 0-14 in the season quarter, Adrian
came back to take the lead with 21 unanswered
points. The Bulldog scoring started when Patrick
Reagan hauled in a 25-yard touchdown reception
at the end of the first half from Andy Denryter.
The
Bulldogs came out on fire in the second half,
with Brian McKenna scoring on a 10-yard pass from
Dentryter, and TJ Williams running for his third
touchdown of the year with 1:30 left in the third
stanza.
The
Titans, however retook the lead when Nick McKoloski
scored his second TD of the game with less than
a minute left to force overtime.
The
Bulldogs held the hosts to a field goal in the
first possession of overtime, but could only manage
a field goal themselves on their first try of
extra play.
In
the second overtime period, the Bulldogs were
sacked and forced to attempt a 42-yard field goal
that sailed wide left. The Titans then drove to
the AC four-yard line before hitting the game-winning
21-yard field goal.
The
game was not without several bright spots for
Adrian. TJ Williams rushed for a career-high 117
yards, while Tavarski ‘Taz’ Wallace
had an incredible 15 solo tackles and totaled
18 stops with two tackles-for-loss, a sack and
a pass break-up.
Denryter
finished the game 17-of-24 for 193 yards, two
touchdowns and an interception. Kyle Lindsey averaged
39.8 yards on five punts. Desmond Upshaw had 77
yards receiving on eight catches, while Chester
Evans hauled in four passes for 47 yards.
The
Bulldogs, now 1-2 on the season, will open MIAA
play when they host Kalamazoo College on Saturday
at 1 p.m. at AC’s Performance Stadium.
