Men's ACHA Ice Hockey Head Coach Michael Buchan
Michael Buchan was hired at Adrian College in November of 2006, becoming the first-ever men’s ACHA ice hockey coach at the school. The Warburg, Alberta, Canada native has a track record of success both as a coach and an athlete.

Buchan was recruited to St. Norbert College in Depere, Wisconsin after playing four years at the Junior A level for the St. Albert Saints. With the Saints, Buchan served as a team captain and helped the squad to two Alberta Junior Hockey League championships.

Later as a team captain at St. Norbert, Buchan helped the Green Knights to two national championship appearances and three league championships.

Buchan earned a degree in business administration for St. Norbert and spent time as a successful manager of a leading financial firm before dedicating all of his time to coaching.

His career in coaching took him back home, coaching the Saints for a season, before coaching the Northeast Wisconsin Junior Gamblers in Green Bay. Buchan recruited elite players from Wisconsin, Illinois and Michigan, and coached them to the Junior and College levels of play.

While with the Junior Gamblers, he also developed strength and conditioning programs and organized the team’s involvement in the Green Bay community.

Adrian College recently announced plans and broke ground on the $5.5 million Arrington Ice Arena which will be located on the Adrian College campus and house both ice hockey and synchronized skating teams.

The facility will be completed in August, 2007, and the Bulldogs will begin club ice hockey competition in the 2007-08 season.

Michael and his wife Katie reside in Adrian.
