Bulldog pitchers ring-up 11 Bears in loss at ONU
Rairigh, Spilak and Zatkin sit down three apiece

ADA, Ohio—The Adrian College baseball team lost a pitchers’ duel on Friday afternoon at Ohio Northern University, falling 1-3 to the Polar Bears.

The Adrian pitchers’ stole the show in a losing effort, racking-up 11 strike outs, while allowing just seven hits. Starter Mark Rairigh allowed one earned run on two hits with three K’s. Shawn Spilak gave up a hit and struck out three, while Eric Zatkin sat-down three Bears. Taylor Muehlfeld and Josh Lancaster struck out one batter apiece.

The lone Bulldogs’ run was driven in by catcher Chad Baas on a fourth-inning solo home run to left field. Todd Meyers was 2-for-3 in the game, while Bobby Rickstad was 1-for-3. Leftfielder Kris Powell was 1-for-1.

With two Hope College wins today at Olivet College, the MIAA title is out of reach. Nonetheless, the Bulldogs, 23-15 on the year, will conclude a very successful 2007 season at home against rival Albion College on Sunday at 1 p.m.
