Adrian College, in conjunction with
the YMCA of Lenawee County and the LCVA (Lenawee Council
for Visual Arts) will host a youth art program this
summer. This art camp will focus on POP ART, the colorful
and whimsical 1960s art movement inspired by such artists
as Andy Warhol, Jim Dine and Jasper Johns. Students
will do projects working with clay, painting, printmaking
and multi-media sculptures.
Classes are scheduled for the week
of July 17-21. Sessions for grades 1-4 will run from
9 a.m. to noon. Grades 5-8 will be from 1-4 p.m.
Classes will be held in a big tent
adjacent to Mahan Hall at Adrian College. Mahan is located
between Shipman Library and the new Caine Student Center
on Williams Street. The instructors will be Jackie Whiteley
and Annie Morton, with assistance from Adrian College
art education students.
The cost of the program is $65 per
student and includes all supplies. Due to generous contributions
from Wacker Chemical Corporation, scholarships are available
to students who qualify for their school’s free
lunch program.
Registration is through the
YMCA of Lenawee County, in person or by mail. For additional
information, contact Pi
Benio at 517-264-3901. Mahan Hall is located on
