| U.S. NEWS RECOGNIZES
ADRIAN FOR SMALL CLASSES, LOW DEBT posted
9/10/03
When U.S. News and World Report recently
released its “America’s Best Colleges”
rankings, Adrian College was ranked near the top of
two noteworthy categories.
One is for small classes. Of the 217
national liberal arts schools ranked, Adrian is 44th
in the “Highest Proportion of Classes Under 20”
category. U.S. News reports that 73 percent of classes
at Adrian have 20 students or less.
The other is for least debt. Adrian
ranked 28th for the average debt of its graduates.
“We're very pleased to be recognized
in these two important areas,” said Janel Sutkus,
Adrian College director of admissions. “Not only
are we providing our students with value in their education
– strong financial aid awards with a minimum of
future loan debt – we also offer them something
even more valuable: the personal attention and mentoring
relationships that can only be found and developed in
small classes.”
Adrian is one of 217 schools in the
Liberal Arts Colleges – Bachelor’s category,
which consists of national liberal arts colleges that
emphasize undergraduate education and award at least
half of their degrees in the liberal arts disciplines.
This category includes some of the most prestigious
colleges in the country such as Amherst, Swarthmore,
Williams, Grinnell, Oberlin and Carleton. Most of the
institutions in Adrian’s athletic conference,
the MIAA, are also on this list.

other categories are available online (www.usnews.com)
