ADRIAN, Mich. – In its 2012 edition of America’s Best Colleges, U.S. News & World Report ranks Adrian College as Regional Top Baccalaureate College in the Midwest. The College is listed 20th in the Midwest region in its “Best Baccalaureate Colleges” section, the highest distinction the College has received in its 152 year history. Ranking information can be found at www.usnews.com.
“Adrian College continues its rapid ascent as one of the premier private, selective colleges in the United States,” said Dr. Jeffrey R. Docking, president of Adrian College.
“We have witnessed a dramatic increase in the number of our students successfully moving into graduate, law, and medical school,” said Docking. “Students and alumni should be proud of how our rapid growth and expansion has resulted in more highly qualified students that have become attractive in the job market.”
This is the fourth consecutive year Adrian College has been featured by U.S. News and World Report. In its 2009 edition of America’s “Best Colleges” and again in 2010, Adrian College received top billing as the #1 Up-and-Coming School in the Midwest. In its 2011 edition of America’s “Best Colleges,” U.S. News & World Report ranked Adrian College as one of the top five schools in the Midwest of Regional Colleges to have the least amount of debt on their students upon graduation. This is the second consecutive year for this distinction.
“Affordability is the top concern parents express with respect to their child’s education,” said Docking. “We’re extremely pleased that U.S. News and World Report ranked us in the top five Midwest colleges that have students graduating with a lower debt.”
Docking continued, “This recognition is a tribute to our aggressive policies to meet the financial need of our students. We recognize the importance of financial aid in these difficult times and we are working close with our benefactors to support the educational values of our students.”
“It has been through the generosity of many donors and philanthropists who have provided scholarships and financial assistance making it possible for our students to reduce the amount they must borrow to pay for their college education,” said Docking. “Without this generosity, we could not have earned this recognition.”
The College continues to experience monumental growth in academic programs and facilities with exceptionally qualified students and an experienced faculty who are among the top in their fields. The entire campus community is honored to continue to build a tradition of excellence, and to be ranked in such prestigious categories. Throughout the past six years, Adrian College has doubled its enrollment and maintained a high retention rate.
The College’s story has moved beyond the boundaries of the state of Michigan and has become a national success story of small private colleges.
“We thank U.S. News for recognizing the spectacular improvements at Adrian College in recent years and how these improvements translate into higher academic credentials in our student body,” said Docking.
