ADRIAN COLLEGE PRESENTS
NEW STUDENT-WRITTEN ONE-ACT PLAYS posted
9/20/04
The Adrian College Chapter of Theta
Alpha Phi announces its annual presentation of new student-written,
one-act plays Sept. 30 and Oct. 1-2 in the Downs Hall
Theatre at Adrian College.
One of the two plays to be performed
this year is "Lost in a Day" by senior Brad
Larson. The play examines how we often meet the most
interesting people at the most inopportune times. A
young man and woman meet at an airport bar. Each has
recently lost a parent and is at a different stage of
grief. The conversation eventually turns from death
to love and life. However, time is running out and they
try to savor every moment before fate pulls them apart.
Or does it?
The other one-act is "Lavender
Green" by senior Heather Peddie. The play is a
character study. Some characters are beautiful, some
are breathtakingly ugly, and yet all are recognizable.
Lin, a teenage girl at the center of the play's action,
struggles to discern between the good and the terrible
people who live within her circle of consciousness.
As they act and are acted upon, Lin and her closest
friend, Keenan, struggle to regain faith in each other
and the world.
Theta Alpha Phi is a national dramatics
honorary fraternity. Adrian's chapter has gained regional
and national acclaim for their presentations of new
works by Adrian students. A one-act last year was selected
for the Kennedy Center/American College Theatre Festival's
Regional Festival, which represents all participating
colleges and universities in the Midwest.
Downs Hall Theatre is located
in Downs Hall on Madison Street. Curtain time is 8 p.m.
each day, and general admission is $3. Call 517-264-3922
for more information.
