ADRIAN COLLEGE THEATRE PRESENTS 'THE FIREBUGS' posted 2/4/05

The Adrian College theater department presents Max Frisch's "The Firebug," translated by Michael Bullock, Feb. 17 through Feb. 19.

Frisch, a Swiss architect, playwright and novelist, was regarded as one of 20th century Europe's most important and original writers. This play is both a slapstick farce and a biting satirical attack on the complacency that existed prior to the rise of the Nazis. A cautious German businessman takes in two mysterious boarders. Even when confronted with ample evidence that the two men are the arsonists the police are searching for, he and his wife remain concerned only with saving themselves and continue to offer the hospitality of their home and all the matches the firebugs could possibly use. This, of course, only serves to postpone the inevitable holocaust.

Curtain time is 8 p.m. each day in Downs Hall Theatre, with an extra show at 2 p.m. on Feb. 19. Downs Hall is located on Madison Street. Ticket prices are $5 for the general public and $3 for students and seniors. For further information please call 517-264-3922.
