STUBNITZ GALLERY HOSTS ‘SENIOR EXHIBITION III’
Exhibit showcases the work of Adrian College art seniors
posted 3/21/06

Work by Chelsea Adams

Adrian College presents the third of four exhibitions presenting work of seniors in the art department. This exhibition will feature an array of media including sculpture, painting, electronic art, and ceramics. The seniors being showcased are Glen Bedore, Jillane Dumdei, Chelsea Adams, Jenna Nunamaker, and Christina Wolfe.

Stubnitz Gallery is located in Downs Hall on Madison Street on the Adrian College campus. The show will be open to the public March 27-April 8. The normal gallery hours are Monday though Saturday 9-4 p.m. and Thursday 9-9 p.m. A reception is scheduled Sunday, April 2, 2-4 p.m.

Glen Bedore has worked with a variety of media but has always been good friends with Photoshop. Accordingly, he decided to focus on electronic art for his show. “Mixed Emotions” explores the colors and facial expressions that we tend to associate with different emotions.

Jillane Dumdei’s inspiration for her exhibition was derived from daydreaming while “…gazing at leaky ceilings and playing Atari” as a child. Although mostly comprised of large paintings on paper, she also includes electronic and sculptural media. Dumdei does not limit her choice of media, instead she “seeks out many compelling ways to express the same idea.”

Chelsea Adams works in mixed media sculpture. “Focusing on the color, texture, and transparency of found materials” the exhibit, “Deep within Dustbins,” “strives to illuminate the fundamental beauty that can be found in the everyday objects we often overlook or take for granted.”

Jenna Nunamaker is very interested in color and geometric shapes. She expresses this in her show by constructing grids of hanging ceramic tiles. By combining this with circular ceramic shapes installed in front of abstract paintings, she has created a very alluring installation.

Family is extremely important to Christina Wolfe. It is the main inspiration for her display. Reminiscent of a family tree, she constructs pieces of a tree from ceramics to symbolize various family members and uses light and photos to emphasize their importance.
