RELIGIOUS LIFE COUNCIL PLANS RELIGIOUS AWARENESS WEEK posted 10/16/02

The Religious Life Council (RLC) at Adrian College will be hosting its annual Religious Life Awareness Week Monday, Oct. 21 through Thursday, Oct. 24. All events are free and open to the public.

The week will kick of with a coffeehouse in Ridge Student Center at 7 p.m. Several area pastors will come and speak about how to "Let Your Light Shine," which is this semester's theme for the RLC. Then on Tuesday night, Religious Awareness Week game night is scheduled in the Ridge Conference Room at 8 p.m.

The week continues with chapel service on Wednesday at 12:15 p.m. This chapel service will feature guest speaker Elder Corey Kennard. He has devoted his life to ministry specifically for young people after he lost a close friend to gun violence at the age of 16.  He has vowed to make a difference in the lives of youth and has developed community outreach programs that were aimed at lessening youth violence and promoting healthier lifestyles. He currently serves at New Beginnings Cathedral in Detroit and is also founder and CEO of the Christian Leadership and Knowledge Group, Inc. The week will wrap up with "Causin' A Ruckus" in the Adrian/Tobias Room at 8 p.m. on Thursday. This will be a free concert featuring several Christian bands. The band Alaris, which is a local group, will be the highlight of the concert.

The week is packed with exciting activities designed specifically to get students more involved in Religious Life events on campus, but the events will also be fun and beneficial for anyone who attends.
