TWO SHOWS COME TO ROBINSON PLANETARIUM posted 10/3/02, updated 10/8/02

Robinson Planetarium at Adrian College currently has two shows scheduled, "Stars of Autumn" and "Daughters of the Stars." The show dates for "Stars of Autumn" are Oct. 17 and 22, and Nov. 5, 14, and 16. Show dates for "Daughters of the Stars" are Oct. 18 and 23, and Nov. 6, 15, and 17. All shows are scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. and admission is free.

During "Stars of Autumn," the patterns and myths of the autumn sky will be discussed. The coming of autumn brings many changes to the night sky. The stars of summer are being pushed to the west and the stars of autumn are taking over. While there are no planets to be seen at night, there are at least three planets visible in the morning. These patterns are among the ones that will be discussed during the show.

"Daughters of the Stars" is presented in a story format. It tells the stories of various Native American tribes using the stars. These stories are very interesting, and quite a change from the more traditional Mediterranean and Asian stories about the stars. This show is great for the whole family.

Robinson Planetarium is located in Peelle Hall on the Adrian College Campus. For more information, contact Earth Science Professor Sarah Hanson at 517-264-3944 or slhanson@adrian.edu.
