ADRIAN COLLEGE ANNOUNCES STUDENT WRITTEN ONE-ACT PLAYS posted 9/25/06

ADRIAN, Mich. - The Adrian College Chapter of Theta Alpha Phi announces
its annual presentation of new student-written, one-act plays Sept. 28- 30
in the Downs Hall Theatre at Adrian College.

One of the two plays to be performed this year is "A Jester's Tale" by
Kellie Kelleher. The middle ages and twenty-first century are cleverly
combined in this loveable farce. The audience is led through a web of
deceit, treachery, gambling, debauchery and all around high jinx. While
reminding you of lots of things yet nothing in particular, this short play
will leave you wishing that every day could be this much fun.

The other one-act play is "Cake Mix and Chicken" by Caroline Gauger. A
man takes a journey through his own guilt and built up anger against his
insane older sister. He decides after many years to confront his estranged
sibling and finally comes to grips with his feelings and the horrific
family tragedy is brought to the best possible resolution.

Theta Alpha Phi is a national dramatics honorary fraternity. Adrian's
chapter has gained regional and national acclaim for their presentations
of new works by Adrian students. Past plays from Adrian College have been
selected for the Kennedy Center/American College Theatre Festival's
Regional Festival, which represents all participating colleges and
universities in the Midwest.

The one-act plays are a yearly event that many students on campus look
forward to because the plays are completely student-run. The selection
process begins in the spring when any theatre student can submit a script
to be judged by a student committee of Theta Alpha Phi members. The
following fall auditions are held and a student crew is assembled to help
backstage. The student directors and writers are in charge of practices
and the final performances.

Downs Hall Theatre is located in Downs Hall on Madison Street. Curtain
time is 8 p.m. each day, and general admission is $5. Call 517-264-3922
for more information.
