4/19/04
On Sunday, April 25, the Adrian College
Choir and Lenawee Community Chorus will combine forces
to celebrate the newly-renovated Dawson Auditorium.
Joining the 110-voice chorus will be the Adrian Concert
Band and a chamber orchestra. They will perform “Eternal
Light” composed by Morten Lauridsen. In addition
to this work, the concert will feature a variety of
other pieces performed by the band and choirs.
This concert marks the official re-dedication
of Dawson Auditorium. Renovations to the building include
new seating, carpet, paint, and a completely upgraded
lobby and restroom area.
“The renovations have not only
improved the look and comfort of the auditorium, the
acoustics have improved considerably as well,”
said Conductor Dr. Thomas Hodgman.
In addition to the Lauridsen work,
the chorus will combine with the orchestra and Adrian
Concert Band to perform a powerful and uplifting arrangement
of “America the Beautiful.”
Admission to the concert is $8 at
the door. The doors will open at 2:20 p.m. and the concert
begins at 3 p.m. Dawson Auditorium is located on Charles
Street on the Adrian College campus. (campus
