OFFER FREE SHOWING OF ‘BROADWAY REVUE’ TO AREA
SCHOOLS
posted 2/2/06
Students organizing “A Broadway Revue” recently
arranged a free showing of the performance for busloads of
area school children.
Eric Swanson, an Adrian College senior and music education
major, is one of the main organizers for the Revue, and he
really has a heart for bringing music to the community.
Eric arranged to have several hundred students from Madison
Schools attend a special free showing of the Revue on Wednesday,
Feb. 1. Special education students from Adrian High School
who Eric has worked with also attended, as did a group from
the Hope Network, an organization that helps persons who have
a disability and/or are disadvantaged.
Eric also contacted many nursing homes in the area, and arranged
for them to view the final dress rehearsal, also for free.
Eric is the one who organized Eats
& Treats, a fund raiser for Hurricane Katrina and
the Madison Schools art program last fall that teamed up AC
music students with Madison students for a performance there.
The Revue is completely student-led, and is in its third
year. Eric was one of the original organizers.
"One thing I like about Adrian College is that every
student has a voice. It is then up to each student how loud
they want their voice to resonate," Eric said. "Professors
here are so receptive to students and their ideas. Not only
do they receive them well, but they also ask 'How can I help?'"
Adrian has thriving and active music and theatre programs,
and a growing musical theatre program. Want to get involved
in the arts? You can do that here!
"Students really have free reign at Adrian College,"
Eric said.
