LENAWEE COMMUNITY CHORUS BEGINS SEASON WITH A CHRISTMAS CONCERT posted 11/20/02

A concert by the Lenawee Community Chorus is scheduled Dec. 1 at 3 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church of Adrian, 1245 W. Maple Street. Doors open at 2:30 p.m. and general admission is $8.

The chorus will sing favorite Christmas carols, including "Carol of the Bells," "We Wish You a Merry Christmas," and an arrangement of "Silent Night." They will also perform Antonio Vivaldi's cantata Gloria, the same piece they performed when the singing group was formed 35 years ago.

Two noted soloists will join the chorus for the concert: Soprano Elizabeth Major, who is known throughout Ann Arbor and Detroit, and mezzo-soprano Karen Nevins, who teaches voice at Adrian College and who has been a public school music teacher in southeast Michigan for ten years.

Dr. Tom Hodgman, chair of the Adrian College music department, will conduct the chorus.

This is a special anniversary for one member of the group. Dene Minnema has been singing with the Lenawee Community Chorus since its inception in 1967.
