COLLEGE ANNOUNCES VISITING JAZZ FLUTE ARTIST posted
1/19/06
On Monday, Jan. 23 in Spencer Hall at 3:30 p.m., Galen Abdul-Razzaq,
one of the most popular artists on college campuses in the
country, will share about his personal experiences as a professional
jazz flute artist, and will answer questions in an open forum.
At 7 p.m., he will present a jazz concert with his quartet
in Spencer Hall. The concert will conclude with a reception.
Galen Abdul-Razzaq was born in Montclair, N.J. Galen was
given his first flute by his parents at the age of ten and
has been playing ever since.
“I always wanted to play the flute,” said Galen.
Galen studied at the Berklee College of Music in Boston and
holds a master’s degree from Rutgers University. He
is an arranger, composer, director, educator, and writer.
Galen’s keen ability to transform an audience with the
smooth, rich, passionate sound of his flute leads to the common
conclusion that Galen is indeed a “master” musician.
Admission is free to both events. Spencer Hall is located
off of Charles Street next to Dawson Auditorium.
Release by Ramone Artis '08.
