Join the Jazz Band

Jazz musicians throughout Lenawee County are invited to join Conductor Brad Sharp and the Adrian Jazz Band for another great season of jazz. This college/community band will play standard jazz arrangements, with an emphasis on improvisation. All experienced musicians or vocalists are welcome; no previous jazz experience is required.

There is no audition and no registration fee. College credit is available. Rehearsals are Tuesday evenings from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. in Spencer Rehearsal Hall at Adrian College. The first rehearsal is Tuesday, Aug. 27. Registration is at 6 p.m. The band will perform whenever possible, including at the Showcase Concert Nov. 16, at the Jazz Ensemble Concert Dec. 4, and at a Toledo jazz club.

Sharp is a 1981 graduate of Adrian College. He is employed in the music department at Adrian High School. In addition to playing with the Toledo Symphony Orchestra and the Toledo Concert Band, he has conducted and played with the Toledo Jazz Orchestra. He also has his own big band jazz ensemble, Murphy's Place Orchestra, which performs monthly in Toledo.
