Enrollment Opens for ARK (Art Rocks Kids) Winter Session posted 11/21/11
Classes scheduled for 1st – 9th graders January 14 – February 18.

ADRIAN, Mich. – The Adrian College Art and Design Department announces open enrollment for the winter session of ARK (Art Rocks Kids). Classes for first through ninth graders will be held from 9:30 – Noon on Saturday, January 14 – February 18. Taught by experienced art educator, and Adrian College alum, Debra Irvine-Stiver and assisted by Art Education students. This session’s theme is “Brrr . . . Arctic Explorations.”

Explorers who attend will discover how to sculpt like the Inuit, build totem poles like those of native Pacific Northwest Coast tribes, make and form handmade paper into tribal masks, and paint arctic animals in the style of Franz Marc’s Blue Horse. They will also construct a collaborative installation with fossils they’ve created. The entire session focuses on creativity and team-building.

For most projects there are two age-based sections. The cost is $70 and includes all supplies. For more information, or to learn about scholarships, contact Art Education Coordinator Sue Thompson via email sthompson@adrian.edu; or via phone 517-474-1103.

To register, please contact Denise Hein, Office of Conferences, 517.265.5161 x4382 or via email at dhein@adrian.edu.
