‘Empy Bowls Project’ Collects $3,500 for Salvation Army posted 1/31/12
Second event to be held February 12 at the First United Methodist Church.

ADRIAN, Mich. – The Art and Design department’s first Empty Bowls event held in cooperation with Evans Street Station in Tecumseh netted over $3,500.00 for the Salvation Army.  The first of two events was held on Monday, January 20, 2012 in downtown Tecumseh.

The second and final event will be held at the First United Methodist Church on W. Maumee in Adrian on Sunday February 12, 11:00 AM – 2:00 PM.

Adrian College students, faculty, staff, alumni and Community Clay students created empty bowls, in which a simple meal of soup is served, emulating the experience of people in need. These handmade bowls can be purchased on site, filled with soup and later taken home. All proceeds from the purchase of the bowls go to the Salvation Army to help with hunger in Lenawee County.

More information may be obtained by contacting Pi Benio, professor of art and design at the College, at 517-264-3901 or via e-mail pbenio@adrian.edu.
