event, which benefits Madison Schools
ADRIAN, Mich. – The Adrian College
music department and the Madison School District invite
you to "Eats & Treats" on Oct. 21 beginning
at 7 p.m. at the Madison School.
"Eats & Treats" is a
benefit for Madison’s elementary playground equipment,
and to help raise awareness of the arts. There will
be over 75 student musicians, visual artists, dancers
and actors from elementary through college age participating
in the event.
Eric Swanson (of Grand Ledge), an
Adrian College senior, is organizing the event with
Madison staff member Kate Hamilton, faculty member Erin
Miller, and Elementary Vice Principal Jim Patrick.
“I am very excited. I have been
working with this project and its crew for two years
now, and things keep getting better and better!”
Swanson stated.
This event is a combination of the
talents at both Adrian College and Madison Schools.
A dance team of third through fifth graders will perform
under the direction Adrian College senior Kim Ferguson
(of Romulus), who is also returning to the project for
the second year. Swanson will direct a group of students
in theatre performance as well as select instrumentalists
from Madison. One performance room will allow audience
members a sneak peak at Madison’s upcoming fall
musical “Seussical the Musical,” which is
scheduled Nov. 16-18 and is also directed by Swanson.
Also included is a performance by
the Madison sixth and seventh grade choirs, under the
direction of Dave Ripper.
Fifteen volunteer performers from
Adrian College will perform selections from “Sweet
Charity,” the upcoming musical at Adrian College
(Nov. 2-4). They will also perform musical theatre scenes
and opera arias.
In conjunction with the performances,
nine area restaurants will offer a “Taste of Adrian.”
All food has been generously donated by Applebees, Bob
Evans, El Chapulin, Jet’s Pizza, Mr. Ed’s,
Long John Silvers, Marco’s Pizza, Main Street
Stables, Emilio’s Tex-Mex Café, and Country
Skillet. Additional donations have been made by Coca-Cola
Inc. and Garfield’s.
Madison School is located on Treat
Highway. The program will run from 7 p.m. until 9:30
p.m. The price of admission is $15 at the door. All
proceeds will go to the elementary playground equipment
fund and help raise awareness of the arts at Madison
Schools.
