NAVY CHAPLAIN JONATHAN FRUSTI SPEAKS AT CONVOCATION posted 10/10/06
Frusti served at Camp David under Bush and Clinton

ADRIAN, Mich. – Navy Chaplain Jonathan Frusti is scheduled to speak on Oct. 18 at 12:15 p.m. in the Adrian College Chapel as part of the Dr. James Borland Convocation speaker series.

Frusti was the first full time chaplain assigned to serve at Camp David. He was there for three years, during the first President Bush's presidency and a short time into President Clinton's tenure. Barbara Bush mentions Jon several times in her autobiography. On Sept 11, 2006, Jon was on stage with Vice President Cheney and Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfield at the Pentagon's morning prayer service observing the anniversary of the 9/11 attack. This past weekend, he participated in the christening of the U.S.S. George H. W. Bush, the Navy's newest aircraft carrier.

Chaplain Frusti speaks with Dr. Flagg following convocation.

Chaplain Frusti is a native of Esko, Minn. He earned a bachelor’s degree in art and religious studies from Concordia College, St. Paul, Minn., a master of divinity degree from Concordia Theological Seminary in Fort Wayne, Ind., and a master of theological studies in ethics from Perkins School of Theology, Southern Methodist University, Dallas, Tx.

Also speaking on Oct. 18 is Jonathan’s wife, Fern Frusti. Fern is the Content Development Leader of the U.S. Department of Education’s ERIC Project, heading up the process of redesigning and reintroducing the Education Resource Information Center Database. Adrian's librarian Noelle Kellner has invited university and research librarians from across the region to come to Shipman Library on October 18. They will participate in a discussion with Fern about the work that's being done to update and improve the ERIC database.

Convocation is free and open to the public. It will be held in the chapel, which is off of Charles Street.
