Stan Caine reflects on presidency; new Ridge Student
Center celebrated
Dr.
Stanley Caine still has a year at the Adrian College
helm. But when he welcomes students back this fall,
it will be the last time he does so as president, and
he will use the opportunity to share some of what the
last 15 years have taught him.
Caine, who is retiring in June 2005,
is the speaker at this year’s Convocation ceremony.
His speech, “Reflections on My Adrian Education,”
will highlight what he has valued most about his experience
with the College and the community.
Convocation is scheduled Sept. 1 at
11:30 a.m. in the Adrian College Chapel, and is free
and open to the public. The chapel is located on Charles
Street.

Since Caine took over in 1989, Adrian
College has improved greatly in a number of ways, most
recently through the complete overhaul of Ridge Student
Center. The former gymnasium is now a fully-modern,
24-hour facility. A celebration for Ridge is planned
for the campus on the same day.
Though classes at Adrian College
start Aug. 30, Convocation is the traditional welcome
to the academic year. It begins the Convocation speaker
series, which brings in speakers as diverse as TV news
journalists, authors, and nationally-renowned educators.
