The first glimpse many students will get of the new leader at Adrian College will be next week, when President Jeffrey Docking speaks at Convocation.

In his first official to address to the Adrian students, Docking will present a speech titled “New Backpacks, New Beginnings, New College,” on Wednesday, Aug. 31 at 11:30 a.m. in the Adrian College Chapel.

Docking took over as president July 1. He was formerly vice president and special assistant to the president at Washington & Jefferson College in Washington, Penn.

“This is an exciting time for students to be at Adrian College,” Docking said. “There will soon be changes that I think they’re going to like.”

Classes start Aug. 29. Convocation is the traditional welcome to the academic year. It begins the Convocation speaker series, which this year will bring in speakers as diverse as Pulitzer-prize winning reporter Mike Sallah, Arkadi Kuhlman and his revolutionary new business model, and Jewish New Testament scholar A.J. Levine. (Convocation speaker series)

Convocation is free and open to the public. The chapel is located on Charles Street. (campus map)
