"Tyndale and the Bible"

Tyndale (1492-1536 A.D.) stands examining the newly printed page of his Bible in front of a printing press (1526) at Worms. The coat of arms and landscape of the City of Worms are at lower right, with the translated Bible ready for smuggling into England. At top left, Thyndale's Bibles are burning in London. This was the fate of Tyndale who suffered martyrdom at the stake in 1536.

At the top right is the seated figure of Myles Coverdale, who also was concerned with the translation of the Bible into the English language.
