"The Reformation"

Luther at Worms (1521) is the central figure. On his left sits the Emperor Charles V. The crown on the coat of arms is that of the Holy Roman Empire. The Luther Gate at Worms is shown, recalling Luther's statement, "I will enter Worms under the Banner of Christ against the Gates of Hell." On the right is the door of the Castle Church at Wittenberg and the date of his Proclamation which was nailed upon the door.

In the lower portion of the window are the visages of Melancthon, Zwingli, and Calvin. In the upper portion of the window is a goose in flames and a swan, symbolizing the legendary statement of John Hus, "You may kill me because I am only a goose, but God will send a swan (Luther) and you cannot destroy him."
