Robin Bott, assistant
professor of English, wrote an essay called "O Keep Me From
Their Worse Than Killing Lust: Ideologies of Rape and Mutilation
in Chaucer's 'Physician's Tale' and Shakespeare's 'Titus Andronicus'"
that was included in "Representing Rape in Medieval and Early
Modern Literature," a new book from St. Martin's Press that
is edited by Elizabeth Robertson and Christine M. Rose.
Hank Cetola,
professor of psychology, presented a poster titled "Using
the WWW in the Classroom to Teach Archival Research" at the
Eighth Annual American Psychological Society Institute on Teaching
of Psychology.
Todd Hamilton,
assistant professor of chemistry, was invited to lead a faculty
workshop on writing in the sciences at the University of Cincinnati.
The workshop was the first in a series aimed at establishing a
writing across the curriculum program at UC's Raymond Walters
campus.
Sarah Hanson,
assistant professor of earth science, traveled to Boston in November
to make a presentation at the annual meeting of the Geological
Society of America. Her topic was how research on a crater volcano
in Arizona could be used as an educational tool.
Robert Husband,
retired professor of biology, was presented an award by the International
Journal of Acarology, for his lifelong service to the study of
mites and ticks. The award was presented at the IJA's 25th anniversary
celebration in November.
Keith McCleary,
assistant professor of chemistry, was invited to serve as a panel
expert at a symposium on industrial chemistry at the University
of Toledo.
Maher Mualla,
professor of chemistry, has been awarded a Fulbright grant to
teach and conduct research in Syria. Recipients of Fulbright awards
are selected on the basis of academic or professional achievement
and because they have demonstrated extraordinary leadership potential
in their fields.
The encaustic and oil painting
of Catherine Royer, assistant professor of art and design,
was selected by New Yorker magazine art critic Peter Schjeldahl
for ANA 30, a juried exhibition at the Holter Art Museum in Helena,
Mont. She also won an award at the All-Michigan Painting Show
in Big Rapids.
