Letter from the Alumni Board - Member changes

In his column, Alumni Board President John Hiner '82 talked about upcoming changes related to the board. Here he comments specifically about new and departing members.

Here are the Alumni Board directors whose terms are ending:

Jennifer Abernathy ’96: Jen is a former president of the board, and the most optimistic, "can-do" board member I ever have worked with.
Mary Betzold ’68: Mary is a caring and vocal supporter of AC, and as an instructor continues to provide an invaluable link to academic affairs at the College.
Arlene "Kandi" Weinlander Eklund ’51: I am grateful that I was able to hand out pins and roses to new alumni at commencement this year. Kandi has been a vital, enthusiastic link to AC's past.
Madeleine Lakatos Fojtik ’82: More than just being able to swap tales with this fellow Class of 82'er, I will miss Madeleine's quiet but stellar contributions as chair of our Communications and Awards Committee. She promises to remain involved with the art department and with graphic support for college publications.
Kiona Jones ’98: Kiona has been an active young alum, and we will miss her contributions.
Mindy Dygert MacDonald ’74: Mindy is the most recognizable face of the Alumni Board, from her constant smile, her willingness to pitch in, and her passion and love for Adrian. She's not far away – she, like Mary Betzold, is an instructor at AC – so we know how to find her.

Three other board directors were renewed for second terms: Me, Christy Cole ’98, and Stephen Gregg ’68.

I am most pleased to announce the election of seven new Alumni Directors. The following officially will join the board in September:

Elizabeth Bibik ’97, of Berkley, human resources manager, Observer & Eccentric Newspapers, Livonia;
Laurie Dickens ’82, of Holt, a collections historian at the Michigan Historical Museum in Lansing;
Jesse Jo Ellis '97, of Rochester Hills, project coordinator at Educational Technologies Inc., Troy;
John Geisler ’61, of Kalamazoo, professor emeritus, Western Michigan University, Kalamazoo;
Kevin Hile ’88, of Mason, freelance writer and editor;
Marilyn Munsell McNitt '73, of Ann Arbor, archivist at the University of Michigan;
Vicki Lynn Eustice-Thomas ’80, of Ortonville, recording secretary for Independence Township, Clarkston.
