1950s
Phyllis Brigham
Bokhart '50 and husband Robert, of Battle Creek, celebrated
their 50th wedding anniversary in June with a family dinner. Phyllis,
retired from teaching in the Pennfield Schools, serves on the
curriculum committee for the Institute for Learning in Retirement.
Bob is retired from Battle Creek Schools. They have one daughter,
Barbara Steffee, one son, Richard, and two grandchildren.
1960s
Harvey Krupnick
'66, baseball coach of 34 years at Holliston High School in
Holliston, Mass., traveled to Johannesburg, South Africa, for
four weeks this summer through Major League Baseball's Envoy Program.
Inducted into the AC Hall of Fame in 1985, Harvey's baseball career
includes playing 48 consecutive years, signing with the Detroit
Tiger organization and being inducted into the Boston Park League
Hall of Fame. In 1992, Harvey was named National High School Master
Coach of the Year and was twice selected Boston Globe Coach of
the Year.
Jerry Lapham
'66 of Macungie, Pa.,has joined Boys & Girls Clubs of
America as the director of training and professional development/international,
after 30 years at Big Brothers Big Sisters of America.
1970s
Steve Swigart
'70 recently hosted a business reception for AC alumni and
friends at Spartan Chemical Co. of Maumee, Ohio, where he is president,
chief executive officer and chairman of the board. The purpose
of the reception was to promote the AC business department and
the Adrian College Business Scholarship, an endowed fund created
by Steve to provide support for AC business majors.
Rebecca Stroube
'75 received the Baraga County Kiwanis "Teacher of the
Year" award. Rebecca is an elementary and music teacher at
C.J. Sullivan School and lives in L'Anse.
Cynthia Johnston
Hallas '76 was ordained as a priest in the Episcopal Church
on Jan. 31 at St. Lawrence Episcopal Church, Libertyville, Ill.,
where she serves as assistant rector. Among those attending the
ordination were David '76 and Deborah Long Lynch '76.
Cynthia is a 2000 graduate of Seabury-Western Theological Seminary,
Evanston, Ill. She and husband Jon, and children Louisa, 14, and
Ian, 11, live in Mundelein, Ill.
1980s
Daniel Connolly
'80 was appointed principal of Elmer G. Bondy Junior High
School in Pasadena, Texas. He lives in Pearland with wife Kathy
and daughters Claire and Bridgett.
Nancy Zielke
'80 was named assistant vice chancellor for fiscal operations
with the Kansas City campus of the University of Missouri. Nancy
and husband John Holton live in Kansas City, Kan.
Peggy Bruff
Pappas '84 has taken a nursing position at the Detroit Institute
for Children, after having worked at Children's Hospital for six
years. Son Christopher, 17, is a senior in high school and daughter
Kara, 15, is a junior in high school. The Pappas family lives
in Dearborn.
1990s
Yvonne Benham-Wolf
'91 completed her master's degree in liberal studies, with
a concentration in American popular culture, drug policy and rhetoric.
It is her second master's degree. Additionally, she has just accepted
a job with the Attorney General's Office of New York City, where
her new title is Investigator for the NYC Department of Investigations.
Jennifer O'Brien
'91 was awarded a master's of public health degree from the
Medical College of Ohio on June 1.
Michelle Smith
Goodman '93 is in her fifth year as a special education teacher
for Utica Community Schools. She lives in Rochester Hills with
husband Wes and their two daughters. Michelle received a master's
degree in special education from Oakland University in 1999.
Terry W. Esterline
'94 recently assumed resident/family service responsibilities
at Hillsdale County Medical Care Facility. He is a former administrator
at the Litchfield Nursing Centre, and is a resident of Hillsdale.
Jackie Sauls-Sigafoos
'94 completed the MBA program at Wake Forest University in
May. She lives in Asheboro, N.C., and is employed with the Taco
Bell Corporation.
Patricia Smith
'94 has accepted a job as assistant legal director and attorney
for the Domestic Violence Project/SAFE House in Ann Arbor. She
and husband Jeffrey Bletch live in Ypsilanti Township.
Terri L. Willets
Hamad '94, who is employed at the Monroe County
Commission on Aging, was selected as "Young Careerist"
by the Monroe Business and Professional Women in February 2001.
She lives in Monroe.
Randy Browne
'97, David Dular '98, and Rob Simetz '97 hiked North Manitou
Island during the Memorial Day holiday weekend this year. The
group invites all to join them on their many hiking trips.
Misty Johnson
'98 received a law degree from Ohio Northern University's
Pettit College of Law.
Kara Kressbach
'98 and Raymond Lennard '99 graduated this spring from
the University of Michigan. Kara received a master's of architecture
degree and Ray received a master's of information science degree.
Ray is employed at the Lenawee County Library.
Joanna Galuska
'99 took a leave of absence from her job in June to go to
Washington, D.C., to lobby with the American Lands Campaign for
environmental issues. Joanna lives in the San Francisco Bay area,
and actively pursues writing and various art projects.
2000s
In May, Kimberly
Muntz '01 and Katherine Szalek '01 were part of the
first group of Adrian College students to participate in the Shakespeare
at Oxford program. After the class ended, Kim remained in Oxford
to work and prepare for graduate work in the United Kingdom.

Riffe Shell '86 and husband Bill, former director of computer
services at AC, announce the birth of their son, Benjamin Adam,
on April 27. The Shells live in Ypsilanti.
Janet U'Ren
Wisuri '86 and husband Paul announce the birth of their sixth
child, Leah Doris, on Feb. 10, 2000. She joins siblings Erik,
10, Emily, 8, Alex, 6, Mary, 4, and Hanna, 2. The Wisuri family
recently moved into the new house that they have been building
themselves in Ishpeming. Paul is employed as a partner with Empire
Mining.
Nick '90 and
Dana Bork Zambeck '91 announce the birth of their son,
Isaac Thomas, on Jan. 8. He joins brother Jacob, 2. The Zambeck
family lives in Washington, Ill.
Larry '92
and Suzanne Gray Anschuetz '89 announce the birth of
their daughter, Lauren Elizabeth, on Nov. 13. She joins brother
Grant, 3. Suzanne is employed with NSK Corporation in Ann Arbor,
and Larry is employed with Primore Inc. in Adrian. The Anschuetz
family lives in Tecumseh.

Chapman '92 and husband Shawn announce the birth of their
daughter, Brynn Katherine, on Feb. 4. Debbie Pellowe was present
for her birth and Brynn has enjoyed visits from great-grandmother
Mary Lou Lutz Pellowe '45, Cyndi Koppelman '93,
and Matthew Bokach '94. The Chapman family lives in Ann
Arbor, and Kiersten is a teacher at Saline High School.
Jay '92 and
Kimberly Numbers Swiecki '94 announce the birth of their
son, Jonathan Joseph, on May 30. He joins brother Donald, 1. Kimberly
is employed at Whitewater Valley Elementary School, and Jay is
employed at Good Samaritan Hospital. The Swiecki family lives
in Harrison, Ohio.

Friess Chapman '93 announce the birth of their daughter, Rachel
Marie, on April 13. Kristen is employed at Harbor Behavioral Healthcare,
and Lloyd is self-employed. The Chapman family lives in Delta,
Ohio.

Goodman '93 and husband Wes announce the birth of their second
daughter, Devyn Lily, on May 2. She joins sister Paige, 2. The
Goodman family lives in Rochester Hills.
Elliot '94
and Christy Keller Grondin '93 announce the birth of
their daughter, Erika Marie, on June 16. Christy is a teacher
at Fulton Middle School, and Elliot is employed at Denver Wholesale
in Flint. The Grondin family lives in Chesaning.
Robb Robertson
'93 and wife Lori announce the birth of their daughter, Caroline
Engle, on Jan. 5. She joins brother Henry and step-brothers Brad
and Jeff. The Robertson family lives in Berkley.

Tad Massanari-Thatcher '94, was born Feb. 23.
WEDDINGS
Jack Hewitt
'74 and Michelle Ford '81 were married July 21 in the
Adrian College Chapel. They have three children: Laura, 9, Kelsey,
14, and Justin, 18, a freshman at AC this fall. The Hewitt family
lives in Petersburg, where Jack is the superintendent at Summerfield
Schools and Michelle is a middle school English teacher in the
same district. Michelle and Jack received master's degrees from
Eastern Michigan University. Jack served for six years on the
AC Alumni Board of Directors.
Brad Winkler
'93 and Debra Seger were married Feb. 17 at Aldersgate
United Methodist Church in Shelby, N.C. Brad and Debra live in
Raleigh, where Brad works for the Kmart Corporation. Attending
the wedding was Denise Welhusen Owen '92.
Patricia Smith
'94 married Jeffrey Bletch on Dec. 1 at St. Edmund's Catholic
Church in Warren. Tiffany Browning Tscherne '95, Tricia
Dunklee Waeschle '94 and Amy Girvin '95 served in the
wedding party. Also in attendance were Meera Gummaraju '94,
Sarah Henry '93, Kimberly Herington '95, Cyndi

'92, Dr. Sheri Reeves Bleam, professor of communication, and
husband Peter Bleam '89. Patricia, an attorney, and Jeffrey,
an electrical engineer, recently purchased a home in Ypsilanti

Erin McGinnity
'97 and Andy Kostos '97 were married Jan. 13 at the
National Shrine of the Little Flower in Royal Oak. Erin is the
director of social services at Braeview Manor Nursing Home in
Euclid, Ohio, and is completing her master's degree in public
administration at the University of Akron. Andy is the recreation
coordinator for the Youth Development Center in Hudson, Ohio.
Attendants included Maribeth McGinnity, former student, as maid
of honor, Dana Parsons '97, and Mike Runyan '96 as
best man. Also serving in the wedding party were Deitra Gitulli
'96, LeAnne Knee '97, and Jeff Dropps '97. The
couple lives in Cleveland Heights, Ohio, where they await the
arrival of their baby in October.
Stacy Slessman
'98 and Michael Pasche were married recently and live in Ft.
Wayne, Ind., with their dog, Flanders. Stacy is employed as a
librarian at Allen County Public Library, and Michael is a civil
engineer.
Karen Fuller
'00 and James Gregurich '00 were married Dec. 30 in
Coldwater. Karen is seeking a teaching position and Jim is employed
with the Michigan Department of Corrections. Bridesmaids included
Jennifer Gregurich '00, sister of the groom, Jill Cain
'00, and Laura Darold '00. Serving as groomsmen were
James Camiller '00 and Mike Barker '02. Wedding
guests included Jenn Welch '00, Brian Vanlerberg '02,
Wayne Fallis '00, Bill McCaulley '00, Beth Blonde
'01, Jenilyn Norman '00, Vince Harkins '98,
and Erin Strittmatter '98. The couple lives in Jackson.
Chad Rodgers
'00 and Krista Roberts were married March 24 in the Adrian
College Chapel. Chad is a firefighter, paramedic and police officer
for Raisin Township, and Krista is the office manager for Preferred
Climate Inc. Attending as an usher was Matt Garno '01.

OBITUARIES
Michael Ryznar
'36 died March 22 in Loveland, Colo. A member of Alpha Tau
Omega, Mike operated his father's Ryznar Coal Company before teaching
for several years at Adrian Junior High School. He is survived
by his wife, Ruth Harris Ryznar '40, two daughters and
three granddaughters.
Mildred Coe
'37, of Lycoming, N.Y., died May 21. She was formerly employed
as a law librarian at Cornell University and for the United States
government in Washington, D.C. She had also been employed as a
physical therapist for the state of New York and Oswego County,
and she served as postmaster of the Lycoming Post Office from
1972 until her retirement in 1980. Her niece, Janette
Farrow Resnick '64, survives her.
Wanda Hill
Cassell '48 died May 30. She was a French and English teacher
for Adrian and Onsted schools in the 1960s. Wanda was also a substitute
teacher for many years around the county. Prior to her teaching
career, she was stationed in Seattle, Wash., with the U.S. Navy
as an air traffic controller. Survivors include her children Sue
Hirschy, Jeanne Mattis, Holly Sharp, James, Joseph and Juanita,
27 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
Aletha Knierim
Fox '55 died May 12. For 45 years, Aletha taught in Sand Creek
Schools, retiring in 1978. In 1976, she was honored as the Lenawee
County Teacher of the Year. Survivors include a son, Sherwood
"Woody" Fox '68 and wife Mary, two grandsons and
a brother.
Wanda Bindeman
Abrams '64, of Pittsburgh, Pa., died Aug. 21, 1999. A member
of Chi Omega, Wanda is survived by a daughter and two grandsons.
Isabelle Catron
Cunningham '67 died May 18. She taught school for a time in
Virginia, worked in proofreading and the mailing room at The Daily
Telegram, Adrian, and then for many years was housemother and
supervisor of housemothers at the Girls Training School in Adrian.
Surviving are three daughters, seven grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren,
four sisters and one brother.
Gayle Grove
Reuschling '75 died March 16 in Ashland, Ohio. She is survived
by her husband Mike.
Elvira Vallejo
Rodriguez '79, coordinator and director of bilingual education
in Lenawee County and a longtime bilingual teacher in Blissfield
Community and Adrian Public schools, died May 8. Surviving are
her husband, Vicente; a daughter, Abbie Rodriguez-Crayne; four
sons, Ruben, Jonathan, Jeremias and James; a sister, two brothers
and 14 grandchildren.
Mike Keller
'82 died in the spring of 2001, from injuries sustained in
an auto accident in Florida.
T. Thomas
Massanari-Thatcher '94 died July 6, of injuries sustained
in an automobile accident in Saline. Tad, a member of Theta Chi
fraternity and Order of Omega, had graduated from the Michigan
State University College of Osteopathic Medicine. He was currently
a resident at Garden City Hospital and had joined the Mercy Primary
Care Family Practice in Dundee. Survivors include his wife, Danielle
Massanari-Thatcher '96, and daughter, Veda Christine.

'01, of Adrian, died July 17.

66, wife of retired professor Milledge Weathers, died July 12.
She is survived by her husband, two daughters, Helene Weathers
Boehnlein '79 and Margarete (Gretel) '87; two sons,
Martin and Benjamin '89 and two granddaughters, Carmen
and Ester.
