COLLEGE WORLD RECEIVES FIRST CLASS HONORS posted 9/12/02

The College World, Adrian College's student newspaper, has earned first class honors from the Associated Collegiate Press.

This is the highest score that the College World has ever been awarded in the three years they have been submitting the paper for judgement. They only fell one mark of distinction short of being named an All American paper, the highest honor that is given out by the Associated Collegiate Press.

"The College World has become one of the best newspapers covering a small campus in the nation," commented one judge.

The College World was awarded 3,430 points and three out of five possible marks of distinction for the 2001-2002 school year. The marks of distinction were awarded in coverage and content, writing and editing, and leadership.

"I'm very proud of the staff. They deserve this," said Jeremy Carroll, former editor-in-chief.

Now that the College World has achieved first-class honors, they are looking to improve the paper even more.

"Hopefully, this year we can achieve All-American," said the current editor-in-chief, Dave Lawrence.

The College World is a student edited newspaper published on a weekly basis and is designed to serve the Adrian College Community.
