ADRIAN COLLEGE PRESENTS
‘A BROADWAY REVUE’ posted
1/15/04
Who’s idea was this, anyway?
It was the students’, which is exactly what Adrian
College music chair Tom Hodgman loves about this show.
“A Broadway Revue” is
scheduled at 8 p.m. Jan. 30 in the Adrian Tobias Room.
The show, which will include many popular numbers from
famous musicals, was a concept born in the minds of
several ambitious students.
“They came up with this idea
and developed it themselves,” Hodgman said. “I
love it when that happens; they take full ownership
of it. It’s going to be a big event for us.”
The production is sponsored by the
music department’s chapter of MENC (Music Educators
National Council). The students in this group thought
the Revue would be a great way to allow musical theater
students another venue to showcase their talents.
The show will feature numbers from
Cats, Les Miserables, A Chorus Line, and Cabaret. Auditions
were held in November and 40 Adrian College students
will entertain for the night.
Sophomore Eric Swanson (Grand Ledge,
Mich.) is director. Sophomore Kim Ferguson (Romulus,
Mich.) is assistant director. Junior Amanda Grimes (Waltham,
Mass.) is choreographer, and senior Aaron Taylor (Lansing,
Mich.) and junior Rachel Boleski (Celina, Ohio) are
soloists. The performance will also feature dance and
large chorus numbers. Joining the cast of students will
be Adrian College employees Mike Gillilan and Janel
Sutkus.
Call the music department at 517-264-3868
for tickets. The price is $5 for students, $7 for adults.
Seating is limited.
