Students now have a completely
new housing option

When Adrian College recently offered
apartment-living to its students, Lindsay Kastl was
one of the first to take advantage of the new housing
option.
“I love it!” Lindsay said.
“It feels more like home here. This is something
special about Adrian.”
Adrian recently purchased a 25-unit
apartment complex, in addition to two brick apartment
buildings. The apartments are located across Michigan
Avenue from Stevens Hall. Several of the units have
been opened to students this semester.
“We’re really, really
excited,” said Lindsay’s roommate, Emily
Hagerman. “They’re very nice. There’s
so much more space, and since we have such different
schedules, it’s nice to have our own rooms so
we don’t bother each other.”

Apartments like the one above
are air conditioned and are equipped with their
own washer and dryer. There will be openings for
100 students to live there by August 2006. |
She added that she loves the space
to hang out and do homework in the living room and likes
being able to park her car near the front door.
“I like waking up in the morning
and being able to eat breakfast,” Lindsay said.
The apartments in the main complex
are air conditioned, come with kitchen appliances and
have private baths. The units were built from 1999 to
2003 and include a washer and dryer.
Adrian College assumed full possession
of the units March 1, and now modifications will be
made that will allow approximately 100 students to live
there by August of 2006.
In a memo to campus announcing the
new option, President Jeffrey Docking said Adrian has
made a commitment to improve housing because students
say it’s important to them.
“Students are the College’s
priority; rest assured that these apartments are only
one of the many ways in which we will continue to demonstrate
that commitment to them,” he said.
