ADRIAN, Mich. – After deciding to attend law school the summer before her senior year Adrian College, Sociology and Spanish major, Megan Boelstler, took the LSAT and scored an astounding 167/180. Numerous offers of graduate school scholarships, including several full rides, followed. But it will be a full ride scholarship to Indiana University Maurer School of Law in Bloomington, Indiana that Megan will pursue in Fall 2011.
Megan’s goal is to someday work in the field of international public law, allowing her to be an advocate for equality and human rights on an international level. This dramatic change in professional goals was definitely not a decision she took lightly.
“I was drawn to a career in law for several reasons,” Boelstler said when asked about her decision to attend law school. “As a sociology and Spanish major, I was looking for a way to apply my knowledge of social problems and international perspective to a career that will be meaningful to me.”
During her time at Adrian College Megan has been an active participant in campus life. She has been a member of the Chi Omega Sorority since the fall of 2007, was on the AC Women’s Lacrosse Team during the spring 2008 season, was a PanHellenic Rho Gamma during fall 2008 recruitment, studied abroad in Chile in 2009, and continues to be involved in multiple other organizations on campus including the pre-law club, FEM, and jazz band.
Megan is excited to start this next chapter of her life and is ready to tackle to challenge of attending law school.
“I am very excited to begin my studies this fall at IU,” Boelstler said. “It is an honor to have received a full-tuition scholarship, and I am grateful that this will enable me to pursue my goals in the field of law.”
While Megan is extremely honored to have received this opportunity she recognizes that her achievements would not have been possible without the help, guidance, and preparation she received here at Adrian College.
“Having professors that I truly respect and who know my capabilities has motivated me to work my hardest and to challenge myself to meet their expectations,” Boelstler said about her experiences at AC. “Taking advantage of the many opportunities at Adrian to get involved has helped me grow as a leader and as a person. Beginning law school is going to be a big step, but I feel prepared thanks to the professors and staff at Adrian who have guided, mentored and challenged me throughout my time at AC.”
