Adrian College Orchestra Debuts to Wide Acclaim posted 12/7/11
The annual "Lessons and Carol" at Herrick Chapel receives rave reviews.

ADRIAN, Mich. – The annual Lessons and Carols at Adrian College opened to brilliantly arranged compositions performed to perfection by the newly created Adrian College Orchestra. The debut offered the 25-member ensemble the opportunity to play familiar carols beginning at a pre-service concert held at 7:00 PM in Herrick Chapel on the college campus.

A formal service followed at 7:30 PM with sounds of the season, as the voices of the Adrian College community filled the chapel with sounds of joyous spirit and proclamation. Led by the 135-voice Adrian College Choir and Chamber Choir, a brass sextet and percussion made guest appearances.  A fully integrated performance with Biblical narrative and carols sung by the congregation, this magical candlelight Christmas event concluded with a powerful anthem of the Hallelujah chorus.

The concert and service were free and open to the public. A sampling of the music can be viewed below or at the Adrian College Vimeo Channel at http://vimeo.com/33247692.
