Adrian College ‘Empty Bowls’ Events Announced posted 10/14/11
Proceeds to benefit Salvation Army Soup Kitchen.

ADRIAN, MI – The Art and Design Department at Adrian College is excited to announce three upcoming ‘Empty Bowls’ events in October, January and February to benefit the Salvation Army Soup Kitchen.

As in previous years, Adrian College art students, teaching assistants, staff, Community Clay students, and the Adrian College Youth Art Program continues to dedicate their talents to the goal of creating 500 bowls to be offered for a donation of $10-30 each.

This years events will kick off at an open Community Throw on Saturday October 29 from 1 PM – 4 PM in the clay studio in Mahan on the Adrian College campus. This opportunity is open to all and will allow participants to create their own bowl. All bowls will be glazed and fired at the cost of $15.00 each and the donation of one canned good. For inexperienced participants, students will assist in teaching the art of using the potter’s wheel.

These hand-made bowls can also be purchased on site at the follow-up lunch events, filled with soup and taken home. These events will be held at Evans Street Station in Tecumseh on Monday January 20, 2012 from 11 AM – 2 PM with the second event on Sunday February 12, 2012 from 11 AM – 2 PM at the First United Methodist Church on Maple Avenue in Adrian. Area restaurants will provide the soup.
