ADRIAN, MI – The Adrian College Equestrian Team has recently partnered with artist Pat DeLong and New Vocations Racehorse Adoption Program in an effort to raise funds fore each organization involved.
Over the past five years, DeLong has published her Horse Racing Fantasy series calendar featuring unique equine-artwork of 12 notable horseracing legends. The horses include such champions as: Barbaro, (champion of the 2006 Kentucky Derby, Cigar (the leading money earner in Thoroughbred racing history), and Smarty Jones (2004 winner of the Kentucky Derby and Preakness Stakes).
This year, the team has decided to partner with DeLong to focus fund-raising efforts on New Vocations. Founded in 1992, New Vocations offers a safe haven and rehabilitation for retired racehorses. The program gives these equine athletes a second chance at a new life. All funds will support horses currently enrolled in their program.
