A Day of Clay at Adrian College posted 10/25/11
College to host pottery sale and kick-off to Empty Bowls benefit on October 29

ADRIAN, MI. – The Adrian College art community extends its invitation for a “Day of Clay” on October 29 from 10 AM – 4 PM.

Kick start the morning at the annual Pottery Sale in the lower level of Caine Student Center outside Madison 110 Salon. A wide variety of works will be featured: cups, pitchers, bowls, vases, lidded forms, sculptures and more. Students at the Adrian College clay studio handcraft each piece, guaranteeing a unique original. Proceeds from this event will offset costs of new equipment for the ceramics studio. These pieces will also be available for purchase on Friday Oct 28 from 10 AM – 5 PM.

Also featured October 29, the Community Clay class from 9:30 AM – Noon. Located on the top floor of Mahan Center for the Arts, witness attendees learn to throw on the potter’s wheel and slip cast forms individually designed by Community Clay students.

Students will be on hand to assist attendees interested in creating a formed bowl to kick-start the annual “Empty Bowls” benefit at the College. Visit Mahan Center for the Arts from 1 PM – 4 PM October 29th to take part in this signature event. An experienced student will assist in the creation and glaze of a custom bowl created by participants. A donation of a canned good and $15.00 is requested to engage in this activity. All proceeds will support the Salvation Army to continue to feed the hungry throughout Lenawee County.
