SGA PRESENTS ITS FACULTY APPRECIATION AWARDS posted 11/14/03

The Student Government Association has chosen its faculty appreciation award recipients for 2003, based on student nominations. Teaching awards were presented to Sean Condon (history) and Muqtedar Khan (political science). Service awards were given to Winella Bush (music) and Craig Weatherby (biology).

Maher Mualla (chemistry) was recognized as the overall appreciation award recipient for this year. Nominator Mike Taveirne, a junior from Sterling Heights, had the following to say: “The major reason that I nominated Dr. Mualla is his willingness to help you when you have questions. Whenever I walk into his office, he immediately stops what he is doing to offer his full attention to my question. Also, his way of teaching organic [chemistry] makes it a very interesting subject because it is not a lecture, and when he gets excited about a point, learning that point is a lot more fun.”

The awards were presented during a ceremony in the Tobias Room on Nov. 13. It was the culminating event of the SGA Sponsored Appreciation Week, which recognized students, support staff, administration and faculty.
