U.S. News and World Report releases 2011 “Best Colleges”
ADRIAN, Mich. - In its 2011 edition of America’s “Best Colleges,” U.S. News & World Report ranks Adrian College as one of the top five schools in the Midwest of Regional Colleges to have the least amount of debt on their students upon graduation.
This is the third consecutive year that Adrian College has been featured and singled out by U.S. News and World Report. In its 2009 edition of America’s “Best Colleges” and again in 2010, Adrian College received top billing as the #1 Up-and-Coming School in the Midwest.
“Affordability is the top parental concern that parents express with respect to their child’s education,” said Adrian College President Jeffrey R. Docking. “We’re extremely pleased that U.S. News and World Report ranked us in the top five Midwest colleges that have students graduating with a lower debt.”
Docking, who is the College’s 17th president in its 151 years of existence said, “This recognition is a tribute to our aggressive policies to meet the financial need of our students. We recognize the importance of financial aid in these difficult times and we are working close with our donors to meet family needs.”
Executive Vice President Rick Creehan, who has overseen financial aid at the College, credits the institution’s tireless efforts in seeking scholarships from its donors to make a private education possible for middle income families.
President Docking further commented that, “It has been through the generosity of many donors and philanthropists who have provided scholarships and financial assistance making it possible for our students to reduce the amount they must borrow in the form of student loan assistance in order to pay for their college education. Without these donors, we could not have accomplished this national recognition.”
The College continues to thrive with exceptionally qualified students and an experienced faculty in the top of their fields. In the past five years, Adrian College has doubled its enrollment and the number of applications for admission has quadrupled.
The Adrian story has moved beyond the boundaries of the state of Michigan and has become a national success story of small private colleges.
“Adrian College continues its rapid ascent as one of the premier private, selective colleges in the United States,” said President Docking. “Students and alumni should be proud of how our rapid growth and expansion has resulted in more highly qualified students that have become attractive in the job market.”
Docking also stated, “We have also witnessed a dramatic increase in the number of our students moving on to graduate, law, and medical school. |
