Athletic Training Education Program Receives a Perfect Score posted 9/29/10
Initial CAATE accreditation visit goes very well

ADRIAN, Mich. - The Athletic Training Education bachelor's degree program at Adrian College just completed its site visit for national CAATE accreditation. The site visitors, Dr. Bruce Barnhart from California University of Pennsylvania, and Dr. Dennis Gruber from Ashland University were here for a three day comprehensive evaluation.

Dr. Barnhart and Dr. Gruber interviewed athletic training students, clinical instructors, faculty, staff, administration, and library personnel. They toured on campus classrooms and labs, as well as off campus clinical education sites. Throughout the three days, the site visitors carefully evaluated the athletic training curriculum for content and rigor. 

While the program will need to await an official decision from the commission, Adrian College is thrilled with the initial findings. Dr. Tina Claiborne, director of the Athletic Training Education Program is excited that "the preliminary report noted numerous programmatic strengths including outstanding faculty, facilities and clinical educators. Most notably, the site visitors reported that the program met EVERY standard necessary for national accreditation."

In the words of the site visit chairperson, "This just doesn't happen...especially for new programs..."
