Adrian College Homecoming
parade to march through campus on Sat., Sept.
26
ADRIAN, Mich.
– Adrian College Homecoming 2009 will
be an extraordinary event in honor of the schools’
sesquicentennial. As part of homecoming, a large-scale
parade is being planned on Saturday, September
26, 2009.
The themed parade
“150 years- Adrian College Through the
Decades” will start at 3pm. The parade
route is Maumee St. to Madison St. to Michigan
Ave. to Charles St. and will end inside the
Multi Sport Performance Stadium on the College’s
campus.
If you live along
the parade route, we invite you to bring out
your lawn chairs, and enjoy the parade which
includes local police and fire departments;
student organizations from the College; the
AC homecoming court; Adrian, Madison, and Onsted
high school marching bands; community members;
local politicians; the Shriners Keystone Kops;
local boy and girl scouts; Clydesdale horses
and much more. Our grand marshal, Mrs. Geneva
Walton Pinnell, Adrian College class of 1952,
will mark her 54th homecoming appearance this
year!
This is a special
time at Adrian College and we want you to be
a part of the homecoming festivities. Check
out Kids Korner from noon-6 p.m. on Saturday.
Children of all ages will enjoy a variety of
activities, including a petting zoo, train rides,
contests, air tattoos, inflatable fun, and much
more. Look for the Kids Korner tent near the
Merillat Sport & Fitness Center.
Enjoy music all
afternoon on the Merillat Sport & Fitness
Center lawn. The outdoor sound stage will feature
live music from 4-6 p.m. This year’s performers
of rock and classic rock are local group, Mid
Lyfe Crysis featureing Pat Farver, a prominent
member of the Adrian community and trustee of
the College.
Join the crowd
for a great evening of football and fun under
the lights as the Bulldogs take on the Lake
Erie College Storm. Head coach Jim Lyall leads
the team in his 20th season. The game starts
Saturday at 6:30 p.m., however, gates open at
4:30 p.m. General admission is $5; seniors over
60 and children under 10 are $3.
Adrian’s
chaplain, the Rev. Dr. Chris Momany, invites
you to come worship on Sunday, Sept. 27 at 11
a.m. in the Herrick Chapel on campus. This year’s
sermon “Homecoming Thoughts” will
be presented by Adrian alumna Rev. Laura Kennedy
Jaissle ‘03, now serving the Lakewood
(Ohio) United Methodist Church. Pre-seminary
students will participate in the service and
the Adrian College choirs and alumni choir will
also be featured.
The 5K Bulldog
Run and Kids ½ & ¼ mile Fun
Runs are scheduled for Sunday at 9 am. Participants
can register, pick up packets and check in between
7:30-8:45 a.m. at Merillat Sport & Fitness
Center lobby. If registering before Sept. 23,
the cost is $10 for AC students and $15 for
non-students; and $5 Kids Race. Following Sept.
23 it is $20 for all; $10 for the Kids Race.
Pre-registered participants will also receive
a Bulldog Run T-shirt and will be eligible for

Be sure to stop
by the Caine Student Center which is open 24
hours a day. The Arrington Bookstore, Jazzman’s
Coffee, Scoreboard Café with Quiznos
& Grill 155, and the 110 Madison Ave. salon
are located inside. Stop by, put up your feet
