Art Department sponsors Empty Bowls Homecoming Throw-a-Thon posted 9/14/09

ADRIAN, Mich. - The Adrian College Art and Design Department is sponsoring an Empty Bowls Homecoming Throw-a-Thon, 10:00 am—6:00 pm, Saturday, Sept. 26, at the tents located by the football stadium.

Homecoming attendees can throw a bowl on the potter's wheel, assisted by art students. Fired bowls will become part of the Empty Bowls events in early 2010 and benefit the Salvation Army Soup Kitchen.

Also, watch for alumna and ceramic artist Ann Vreeland's Exhibition to go on display Monday, 9/21, in the space just outside of 110 Madison Ave., on the lowest level of the Caine Student Center. Her exhibition will remain on view through October 2.

Vreeland also regularly donates pottery for the annual sale benefiting the art department where her works are highly sought and reap increased funds for this project.

More information can be obtained by contacting Adrian College professor of art and design, Pi Benio at 517-265-5161 ext. 3901 or via e-mail at pbenio@adrian.edu
