Adrian College
hosts fundraiser hockey game for College’s
ice sports teams
ADRIAN,
Mich. – Adrian College will host a benefit
hockey game with the Detroit Red Wings Alumni
Association on Saturday, Oct. 11, 2008. Proceeds
from the game will go to the College’s
four ice sport teams: men and women’s
varsity Div. III hockey, men’s ACHA Div.
I hockey, and synchronized skating.
“Team Adrian,”
made up of Adrian College staff and members
of the Adrian community will play a two twenty
minute period game versus members of the Detroit
Red Wings Alumni Association. Adrian College
President Jeffrey Docking, men’s and women’s
varsity head coaches Ron Fogarty and Melissa
Lomanto, and Arrington Ice Arena director Todd
Mittelmeier are a few of the players representing
Team Adrian. The Red Wings Alumni team is made
up of former Red Wing and National Hockey League
players, along with a few former college stars.
The main philosophy of the
Red Wings Alumni Association is to have fun
and enjoy fellowship as a group, while helping
to raise money for others. Today it is the most
active and largest alumni organization in the
National Hockey League.
The varsity hockey teams are
traveling to Finland to play in exhibition games
this December, the ACHA team is traveling to
Arizona to play in inter-regional games, and
the synchronized skating team is traveling to
Colorado for a competition. Proceeds will go
to the teams to help lower costs for these trips.
There will also be autograph
and picture sessions with the Red Wings Alumni
in between the periods as well as after the
game. These sessions are open to all spectators
Five spots on Team Adrian
are available to individuals who are interested
in playing in the game. A donation of $250 is
required for each spot. These five spots will
be given on a first come, first served basis
and participants must have their own equipment.
