ADRIAN, Mich. – Adrian College is pleased to announce this year’s Faculty Brown Bag scholarship series which kicks-off on Tuesday, Sept.7, 2010 at 12:00 P.M in Knight Auditorium.
The 2010-2011 Faculty Brownbag Scholarship Series is focusing on scholarly presentations which relate to the Ribbon-Crossing Boundaries and Disciplines. Each presenter will incorporate the College’s Ribbons of Excellence in some way into their presentation.
The first presentation will be given by Dr. Sarah L. Hanson, associate professor of earth science who specializes in Igneous petrology / mineralogy, and is entitled “Two Billion years of Arizona History: From Mojave Desert Granite to the High Country Flagstaff Volcanoes.”
In a trek across two billion years of Arizona’s history, Dr. Hanson will discuss her research that includes the immense continental collision that attached Arizona to the North American continent, a newly discovered mineral and a 900 year old volcano. Hanson received her Ph.D. from the University of Utah.
The Adrian College Faculty Brown Bag Scholarship Series was announced as a new initiative in August 2006 and has taken off ever since. Scholarship is being broadly defined as publications, conference presentations, compositions, exhibition or performances.
