ADRIAN, Mich. - Adrian College is proud to announce that students Debi Batey and Jamie Besier have been chosen to receive The Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship. This scholarship is sponsored by the U.S. State Department.
According to the program’s official website, The Gilman Scholarship Program offers awards for undergraduate study abroad and was established by the International Academic Opportunity Act of 2000.
Batey and Besier are both majoring in Japanese Studies at the College. They were awarded $5000 and $4000 respectively.
“This is an extremely competitive award and Adrian College did very well,” said Dr. Bryan Bott, assistant professor of modern languages and cultures. “We had 100% acceptance, and more awards than Hope, Albion, Alma, Hillsdale, Olivet, and Calvin.”
