60 student-athletes and
four teams honored
It has been announced that
60 Adrian College student-athletes and four
teams competing in MIAA-sponsored sports were
named to the MIAA Academic Honor Roll and Team
GPA Award list for the 2007-08 school year.
According to the MIAA
website, the honor roll recognizes scholar-athletes
who achieved a minimum 3.5 grade point average
(on a 4.0 scale) for the entire 2007-08 academic
year. The Academic Honor Roll program was initiated
in 1990 to recognize students at MIAA member
colleges who excel both in athletics and in
the classroom.
Additionally, the Team GPA
Award is presented to conference teams that
achieve a 3.300 or better grade point average
for an entire academic year. Of the 49 teams
to earn this year's honor, four teams have received
the award every year since it was initiated
in 1998-99, including the Adrian women's track
& field team.
Sara Morningstar (Addison,
Mich./Addison H.S.), Nichole Roose (Utica, Mich./Lutheran
North H.S.), and Ian Weber (Defiance, Ohio/Tinora
H.S.) are three of 54 senior student-athletes
who achieved the distinction of being named
to the MIAA Academic Honor Roll each of their
four years in school.
