Art Classes Offered posted 6/6/07
ADRIAN, Mich. – Adrian College,
in conjunction with the YMCA of Lenawee County and the
LCVA (Lenawee Council for Visual Arts), will host a
youth art program this summer titled “Walk Like
An Egyptian.” Students will study the art and
culture of the land of the ancient pharaohs using clay,
papier mache, drawing, painting, carving and jewelry.
Classes are scheduled for the week
of July 16-20. Sessions for grades 1-4 will run 9 a.m.
until noon each morning. Grades 5-8 will run 1-4 p.m.
each afternoon.
Classes will take place in a big tent
adjacent to Mahan Hall at Adrian College. Mahan is located
between Shipman Library and the new Caine Student Center
on Williams Street. The instructors will be Jackie Whiteley
and Annie Morton, with assistance from Adrian College
art education students.
The cost of the program is $65 per
student and includes all supplies. Due to generous contributions
from Wacker Chemical Corporation, scholarships are available
to students who qualify for their school’s free
lunch program.
Registration is through the YMCA of
Lenawee County, in person or by mail. For additional
information, contact Jean Lash, art education coordinator,
