Named Board Chair posted 6/14/07
Kathryn Mohr first woman ever
appointed to important position
ADRIAN, Mich. – Adrian College
has named Kathryn Mohr as the new chairperson of its
Board of Trustees.
Kathryn
M. Mohr is a partner with Robison, Curphey & O’Connell,
a law firm based in Toledo, Ohio. She is based at the
firm’s Adrian office and has clients throughout
southeast Michigan and northwest Ohio.
“At this time of tremendous
growth and potential at Adrian College, it was absolutely
critical to choose the right person to chair the board,”
said Dr. Jeffrey R. Docking, College president. “I
believe Kathryn Mohr is that person. As a board member
she has demonstrated a keen understanding of this college
and a faculty for the type of forward-thinking leadership
we need to take Adrian to the next level.”
Mohr has practiced law for 20 years.
Her areas of focus include agribusiness, commercial
transactions, corporate and commercial law, estate planning
and real estate.
The Board of Trustees is a volunteer
board and is the highest governing body at the College.
“Adrian College has significantly
and positively impacted my life in many ways. I am both
humbled and honored to be named to this position,”
Mohr said. “I am excited about the wonderful progress
the College is making and am proud to help it build
on that progress.”
Mohr brings years of service to her
work as chairperson. She has served on the Adrian College
Board of Trustees for the past 11 years, most recently
as secretary. Prior to that, she served for eight years
on the Adrian College Alumni Board of Directors, including
as president.
By accepting the position, Mohr is
making history in a couple of ways. She is the first
female board chair in Adrian history. In addition, she
is the first Adrian graduate to accept the position
in 29 years. The last Adrian graduate to serve as board
chair was Judge Loran Lewis, a 1925 graduate who served
in the Court of Common Pleas in Allegheny County, Pa.,
and who was chair from 1967-1978.
Mohr replaces Gary Valade, retired
CFO of Daimler-Chrysler, who served as chair for six
years. He remains on the board.
Mohr is a lifelong resident of Lenawee
County. She was salutatorian of her Onsted High School
class, graduated summa cum laude from Adrian College
in 1984, and cum laude from the University of Toledo
College of Law, where she earned her juris doctor degree
in 1987.
Professionally, Mohr is a member of
the American Bar Association, the Ohio State Bar Association,
the Michigan State Bar Association and the Toledo Bar
Association.
Actively involved in the community,
Mohr serves on the Lenawee Intermediate School District
Board of Education, the Britton-Macon Educational School
Foundation Board of Trustees and the United Bank &
Trust Board of Directors.
Mohr lives in Britton, Mich., with
her husband, Mark Prielipp, and their three children,
ages 6, 12, and 17.
