Students Volunteer at Vision Builders 5K Race posted 5/17/10

ADRIAN, Mich. - On May 8, 2010, the annual Vision Builders 5K race drew hundreds of dedicated runners to the scenic Hudson Mills Metropark in Dexter, Michigan. Scores of volunteers facilitated the event as ground crew, carnival operators, DJ’s, pancake makers, masseuses, musicians, photographers, and more.

Garin Horner, Adrian College Assistant Professor of art and design, and two of his students were among them.Photography students Kristen Rooksberry and Michelle Leman both served as primary photographers.

As a result of all the volunteers' efforts, Vision Builders raised over $30,000 for health care, meals, and educational opportunities for at risk children.

“This is a great opportunity for community service for our photography students,” Horner said. “They get to practice their skills while at the same time contributing to an organization that profoundly benefits many, many people.”
